Instagram impersonation account report

Short answer. An Instagram impersonation account report belongs in Instagram's own report flow. Open the fake profile, use the report menu, and choose pretending to be me. Keep screenshots. If your real account was disabled for impersonation, that is a separate appeal.

An Instagram impersonation account report is how you flag a profile that is pretending to be you or someone you represent. It is not the appeal you file when your own login says you were disabled for pretending to be someone else. Those are two different screens.

File the report on the fake profile

Log in to the real account if you still can. Open the fake profile. Use the menu and report it. Pick the option for an account pretending to be you. If the form asks you to name the real profile, use your username.

Save:

  • The fake username and a full-page screenshot.
  • Messages the fake account sent, if friends forward them.
  • The date you submitted the report.

Ask friends not to send the fake account any login codes. A code is a key.

Instagram impersonation account removal

Removal is the same report. Instagram takes the fake profile down after that report, inside their own tools. There is no second form, and no separate service page, for “removal” versus “report.”

Keep the screenshots until the fake profile is gone. If it is still up, send the same evidence again from the report flow rather than a link a stranger sent you.

If you cannot log in to report from the real account, use Instagram’s help pages for impersonation from a browser and keep the same screenshots. Do not pay a stranger to “pull the fake down tonight.”

If your real account is the one that was disabled

The notice will say the account was disabled for pretending to be someone else, or words close to that. That appeal is on Instagram account disabled for impersonation. You confirm you are the real person, and you should be ready for a video selfie inside the app.

A short notice with no reason is a different page: Instagram account disabled for no reason. A hacked email that let someone copy your name is on Instagram hacked email changed.

We file disable appeals through Meta’s own official channels. Reporting a fake profile is something you can do from the fake account’s menu in a minute. Send us the case when your own account is the one offline. Start on the contact page. How it works is the three steps. The main disable guide is Instagram account disabled: how to get it back. We never ask for your password.

Questions

How do I report an Instagram account pretending to be me?

Open the fake profile, tap the menu, and report it for pretending to be you. Follow the form. Add a screenshot of your real profile if it asks.

What evidence should I keep?

Screenshots of the fake profile, the username, and any messages it sent to your friends. Save the date you reported it.

My own account was disabled for impersonation. Is that this form?

No. Reporting a fake profile is one job. A disable notice on your login is an appeal. Use the disabled-for-impersonation guide for that screen.

Do you need my password to file the report?

No. We never ask for the password. You can file the report yourself from the fake profile, or send us the screenshots if your real account is the one that was disabled.
