An Instagram account locked message is a hold on the login, not the same sentence as “We disabled your account.” Read the words before you pick a fix. The lock screen wants a confirmation that you are the owner. A disable screen wants an appeal.
Clear the lock from the screen you have
Log in on a phone you have used for this account. Screenshot the lock before you tap. Then use the button it shows. It will ask for a code to your email or phone, or a video selfie.
Confirm the email or phone that is actually on the account. Type any code yourself. If the screen asks for a video selfie, record it in the app: one face, clear light, the head turn they show. While they review the clip, you stay logged out. That wait is the check, not a new ban. The details are on Instagram selfie video verification.
If the code never arrives, the email or phone on the account may have been changed. That is a hack path. Secure the old inbox and read Instagram hacked email changed. A missing code is not solved by sending your password to someone in your DMs.
When the lock is really a ban
After you pass the check, look at the next screen.
A Facebook account can show a lock of its own. If that is the screen, use Facebook account locked. Do not mix the two screenshots.
Have us read the screenshot
Send the username and the lock screen. If a second notice appeared, send that too. The review is free. We file appeals through Meta’s own official channels when the case is a disable or a suspension. We open support chats, send follow-up emails, and push the case hard until it gets looked at. It takes a few days.
Start a case on the contact page. How it works is the three steps. We never ask for your password.
